Introduction to the case of Rehab the Musical

Rehab the Musical is arriving at Piccadilly’s NEON 194 on 12 January, and it’s sure to take audiences on an emotionally charged journey. It tells the story of Kid Pop, a 26 year old popstar who checks into rehab after being caught taking cocaine. His journey to recovery is jeopardised, however, by the machinations of his PR manager, who’s out to exploit his situation. The musical combines a sensational score with dark comedy, exploring the serious theme of addiction with exceptional heart. Keith Allen - Malcolm Stone

A household name, Keith Allen is a stage and screen actor, writer, director and presenter. He first came to prominence in The Comic Strip Presents… on Channel 4 and has since appeared in films such as Trainspotting and Kingsman: The Golden Circle. His TV credits include the Sheriff of Nottingham in the BBC’s Robin Hood and roles in Death in Paradise and The Pembrokeshire Murders. He has been in a wide range of theatre productions too, including Treasure Island (Theatre Royal Haymarket), Harold Pinter’s The Room (Almeida and New York) and A Christmas Carol (Nottingham Playhouse & Alexandra Palace).

Christian Maynard - Kid Pop

Trained at Urdang Academy in London, Christian Maynard is an up and coming star of musical theatre. His previous credits include Chris in Miss Saigon (Sheffield Crucible), Ben in Babies in Concert (Lyric Theatre) and Kempe in & Juliet (Shaftesbury Theatre).

Mica Paris MBE - Martha Prosser

First finding fame with her top tep hit My One Temptation, Mica Paris has had an illustrious music career with no fewer than nine albums under her belt. Her latest album, Gospel, was released in December 2020, peaking at number one in the UK R&B Album Charts. Her TV credits include Ellie Nixon in Eastenders, and she has appeared in musicals such as Chicago and Fame.

Maiya Quansah-Breed - Lucy Blake

Maiya Quansah-Breed trained in musical theatre at the Guildford School of Acting, graduating in 2018. She is best known for her role as Catherine Parr in the original West End cast of Six, for which she received a Black British Theatre Awards nomination in 2020. She has also appeared as Mimi Marquez in RENT (Hope Mill Theatre) and as a young Diana Spencer in Diana (Eventim Apollo).

Jodie Steele - Beth Boscombe

With an admirable stage career, Jodie Steele has appeared in a wide variety of musicals, from RENT (Tabard), Miracle on 34th Street (UK Tour) and Legally Blonde (Kilworth House) to Wicked (UK and International Tour) and Six (UK Tour). Her TV credits include Emmerdale, Professor T and Eastenders.
