Summer is always an exciting season in theatreland. With a range of family productions as well as some unique shows for adult audiences, there’s plenty to suit all tastes as the warm weather approaches. Family shows

If you’re looking to keep the kids entertained during the holidays there are some excellent productions that the whole family can enjoy. Lasting around 60 minutes with no interval, these shows are the perfect introduction to theatre for young children, giving them a taste of the magic while being short enough to hold their attention. Alice in Wonderland

Marylebone Theatre, 12 July - 31 August 2025

Ideal for kids aged five and up, this unforgettable adventure takes you down the rabbit hole and into Alice’s wonderful world. Hurry along with the White Rabbit, smile with the Cheshire Cat and hold onto your head when the Queen of Hearts arrives! This production brings Lewis Carroll’s fantasy to life with puppetry, exquisite costumes and an original score. 

The Tiger Who Came to Tea

Theatre Royal Haymarket, 14 July - 7 September 2025

Back for its 11th season in the West End, this enchanting show retells Judith Kerr’s bestselling story with sing-along songs, dancing, magic and clumsy chaos. Perfect for children ages three and up, it all begins when the doorbell rings just as Sophie and her mummy are sitting down to tea. Is it the postman? Is daddy home from work? Or will there be a surprise for both of them?

Come Alive! The Greatest Showman Circus Spectacular

Empress Museum, 1 May - 21 September 2025

Circus meets musical in this spectacular show, which features some of the finest artists and musical theatre talent in the world. Take your seat in the Big Top and enjoy hits from The Greatest Showman combined with high-energy performances from acrobats, aerialists and jugglers. The show is recommended for ages six and up.

Elephant

Menier Chocolate Factory, 22 May - 28 June 2025

Part gig, part musical love story, this production from award winning actor and playwright Anoushka Lucas is an exploration of identity in 21st century Britain. As a girl, Lylah couldn’t ask questions - at school she was expected to be good and at home her parents were distracted. But when a piano comes through the sky and lands in her flat, everything changes. 

Till the Stars Come Down

Theatre Royal Haymarket, 1 July - 27 September 2025

For 13 weeks only, this National Theatre production is transferring to the West End - and everyone’s invited to attend. It’s Sylvia and Marek’s wedding, and the family is gathering to welcome a newcomer into their midst. But as the vodka flows and dances are shared, passions boil over.
