Summer of song: London musicals to see this season

Musicals hold universal appeal. Whether for their catchy numbers and stunning choreography, their feel-good narratives, or their dazzling sets and costumes, millions flock to West End theatres and shows each year.

Alongside all the classic, long-running productions - some of which have been around for decades - this summer heralds the arrival of some limited-run shows that are not to be missed. From family-friendly productions to parody and comedy, each offers a unique experience presented via soaring vocals and energetic choreography. Here, we list our must-see London musicals for summer 2025.

101 Dalmatians

Eventim Apollo, 18 July - 30 August

Get ready to go dotty for the cutest musical in town. For six weeks only, 101 Dalmatians is in the capital, brought to life on-stage with spectacular puppetry, show-stopping choreography and unforgettable songs. Join proud parents Pongo and Perdi as they set off to rescue their adorable puppies from the scheming Cruella de Vil. You’d be barking mad to miss this family-friendly production!

Titanique

Criterion Theatre, 1 May 2025 - 4 January 2026

Calling all Titanic fans! The story of Jack and Rose is back, but with a musical twist. In this riotous parody, Céline Dion hijacks a museum tour claiming to have survived the Titanic disaster. She retells the story of Jack and Rose’s romance, complete with a raft of her hit songs and a large helping of 90s pop culture references. Hop on board the Ship of Dreams for a night to remember.

Starlight Express

Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, 1 May 2025 - 1 March 2026

Get your skates on and head to the specially designed Starlight Auditorium at Wembley Park for the ride of a lifetime. When a child’s train set comes to life, the engines race to be the fastest in the world. Rusty, a humble steam engine, has little hope of winning until he is inspired by the legend of the Starlight Express. With a talented cast and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber - the man behind some of the best West End plays for families - it’s more energetic and exciting than ever.

The Producers

Garrick Theatre, 30 August 2025 - 21 February 2026

At the end of the summer, the most successful flop of all time takes to the stage. Based on the cult classic film, The Producers follows down-and-out producer Max Bialystock and his accountant Leo Bloom as they plan to create the biggest commercial failure theatre has ever seen. When the scheme backfires, chaos unfolds. Join the Tony Award-winning caper by the legendary Mel Brooks and prepare for a night of laugh-out-loud fun.
