From big names like Tom Allen, Aisling Bea and Romesh Ranganathan to a wealth of up-and-coming acts, the capital is a hotspot for live shows. Alex Edelman
Returning to the UK stage with his third stand up show, ‘Just For Us’, Alex Edelman is playing at the Menier Chocolate Factory until 26 February. He debuted the show in 2018 and has already enjoyed several extended runs with it in the UK - so for those who have missed out before, now is the time to get your tickets.
The show has been nominated for several awards including an Outer Critics Circle Award and a Drama Desk Award, and covers some of Alex’s early life, growing up as an Orthodox Jew beside his Olympic athlete brother, AJ. But at its heart is a serious message about anti-semitism and the online abuse that is directed at Jews. Alex regales audiences with the tale of his covert attendance of a White Nationalist group meeting, coming face to face with the people behind the hate speech.
Alex Edelman has stood up alongside the likes of Rickey Gervais, Eddie Izzard and Jack Whitehall - which should be enough to tell you that this is a show not to be missed.
Haters Roast
For fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Haters Roast - part of The Shady Tour - is a must-see. For one night only, RPDR stars will come together in a night of comedy fun, hosted by The Vivienne, winner of Season 1 of the UK show. No fewer than nine queens will arrive on stage armed with their crudest slander, their wittiest insults and their most insensitive comments.
Look out for US and UK fan favourites Baga Chipz, Trinity the Tuck, Miz Cracker, Heidi N Closet, and Lawrence Chaney as they deliver their outrageous acts, vilifying castmates, celebrities and peers in the name of good, filthy fun.
